“Fifteen years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I was an active individual who always loved the outdoors. I was playing ice hockey, windsurfing, skiing, hiking, biking, and backpacking.

One by one I had to give up these activities due to issues with balance and weak legs. It broke my heart each time I had to abandon something I loved to do. It isolated me slowly from friends and family as I was no longer able to participate in group activities until I found my horse “Moose”, a 9-year-old Azteca gelding from New York state.

Moose was raised and trained by a man who is paraplegic and legally blind. Moose came into my life six years ago and completely changed it. Although there are many activities I still can’t do, Moose can take me up in the mountains, on trails in the wilderness, even daily hikes with my wife who can walk as fast as I can ride. He takes me to beautiful places! This is my story with Moose.” —Piere L.
